About Dice Notation

Dice notation like 2d6means “roll two 6-sided dice and add them together.” The number before the d is the count of dice, and the number after is how many sides each die has. This notation is the standard in tabletop RPGslike Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, and countless others. A d20 is used for skill checks, saving throws, and attacks. d6 dice are common for damage, ability scores, and many other RPG mechanics.D&D uses seven standard dice: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, and the d100 (usually rolled as two d10s where one represents tens). Each die type serves a different purpose in the game.
